Summer Seminars on Theologies of Religious Pluralism and Comparative Theology

Location

Among the criteria in our selection of sites was that the location be a focal point of religious diversity and that it be near a major metropolitan city. The TRP Planning Committee plans to add presentations by local scholars and religious leaders into our schedule after further conversations with local religious leaders. With these criteria in mind the TRP Planning Committee has selected two sites: New York City and Chicago.

New York City is among the nation’s most diverse metropolitan areas. The number of religious traditions practiced, and the variety of religious sites make this an unrivaled city for the exploration of theologies of religious pluralism. We will hold the first week-long seminar at Union Theological Seminary.

Chicago is also a site of many religious traditions and so provides another interesting and compelling venue for the exploration of comparative theology. We will hold the second week-long seminar at the University of Chicago Divinity School.

Each of the two cohorts will be in New York City during their first week-long session and in Chicago during their second week-long session.
